I feel no need to put spoiler warnings for books published in 1865.
If you want an unspoiled classic science fiction story about people travelling to the moon, try H. G. Wells' 1901 The First Men in the Moon.
Or my personal favourite: Hergé's 1954/54 Destination Moon and Explorers on the Moon.
