I've always wondered, ever since I first saw Episode I: The Phantom Menace in the cinemas that first time, why Qui-Gon doesn't question Shmi's statement about the origins of Anakin in the slightest. I guess virgin births are common enough in the Star Wars universe that it never occurred to him to have any shred of scepticism.
