2024-04-14 Rerun commentary: The cyberspace program was clearly listening to them to see if they realised that they'd completed the quest, and was quite prepared to let them continue obliviously until that happened.

Imagine a game that doesn't tell you when you've finished it. It just lets you keep playing, until you realise you've finished and decide to stop.
