I originally wrote this with the phrase "latest Test cricket match", to be slightly more friendly to our non-cricket-familiar readers, but then I figured that nobody in the situation in the comic would say that since, given the context, anyone he's talking to should know what sport the yeti is talking about.

There are Test matches in other sports, but I felt the implication of "latest news" here was an indication that the sport being considered lasted significantly longer than an average football or rugby match.

Eh, maybe not. Well, this comic went live during play in the first Test of the 2009 Ashes series, so cricket's still most appropriate. :-)

2022-09-03 Rerun commentary: That 2009 Ashes series was another thrilling instalment in a period of amazing series. But it was no 2005 series - that series still sits in my memory as one of the most amazing summers of sport that I ever watched.

On another note, I'm happy with the monastery architecture in this strip.
