I had a vague feeling that Brighton was south of London, but I had to use Google Maps to check to be sure. And I had a hard time spotting Brighton, because it's not a big place clearly marked on the map as you zoom to make sure that you're looking at the coast south of London. In the end I had to search for Brighton using the search field, and I was surprised to find it's a relatively small part of a larger city known as Brighton and Hove.

Readers in the UK may think all of this is common knowledge, but it was new to me, for whom just about the only thing I know about Brighton is that it's a British seaside resort and it may or may not be south of London.
