I've switched from the photo background used for the previous strip to a simpler background using Lego elements. I often like to set the scene with something visual from a photo, and then as the story progresses in the same setting, switch to using Lego backgrounds. Movies and TV shows often use a similar technique, with a wide scene-setting shot to establish the location, followed by the more usual close up shots of actors, where the background becomes less important and can be simulated with a set.
