New comics Mon-Fri; reruns Sat-Sun
1 Lambert: Okay, whatever. My turn. A monster starting with M... um... Mimic.
2 Mordekai: “Mimic” is a stupid name for a monster. It’s not a name, it’s just what it does.
3 Lambert: What, like ear seeker, intellect devourer, mind flayer, piercer, roper, trapper, or shambling mound?
4 Mordekai: Exactly! Man, whoever came up with all those had no creativity whatsoever.

I originally started with just a couple of other examples, the piercer and ear seeker. And then I realised just how many more of these sort of monster names there are.
Although Gary Gygax "borrowed", to put it euphemistically, reams of material from various sources when writing up the Dungeons & Dragons rules, I think one would be hard pressed to argue that synthesising it all into the ground-breaking and transformative game that he developed was a result of lack of creativity.
