3 Wendy: As lucky as any salt can be in Davy Jones’ Locker.
4 Higgs: Oh, there be a locker wi’ pantry supplies?

I had a serious question of pirate grammar to settle while writing this strip, which I reported in my daily blog at the time:

Which of these is most correct?

• the cook ne’er been captured
• the cook ne’er bein’ captured
• the cook ne’er be bein’ captured
• the cook ne’er been bein’ captured

As you can see, I decided to go for the third option. I feel like pirate grammar handily has a vastly greater variety of subtly different past tenses than regular English.
