The fact that J. M. Barrie wrote Peter Pan a few decades after Lewis Carroll died just goes to show how twisted the time stream is here.

And then there's the intriguing fact that the name "Wendy" was extremely rare before Barrie popularised it, which means it's a highly anachronistic name for a Caribbean pirate wench.


2021-04-03 Rerun commentary: I like that Ponsonby characterises a "Cheshire Cat" as "a cat that can vanish", rather than simply as a cat from Cheshire. I guess for most people these days the idea of a "Cheshire cat" is more closely associated with a cat that vanishes than a cat from Cheshire.

I wonder what cat owners in Cheshire think of the whole situation. How often do their cats vanish?
