Comic #3506

1 Terry: I never thought I'd say this, but here we are, standing on a flower.
1 Jane Goodall: In the pink, as it were.
2 Steve: Crikey! Now all we have to do is lure a bee!
3 Terry: How, exactly?
4 Steve: Hey, bees! Put your petal to the metal! Get your free pollen here!

I made the calculations based on Terry's numerical statements in #3495, and was all prepared to make this comic consistent with the 10,000 times shrinking factor implied there. That would make the characters a shade under 0.2 millimetres tall, which is a decent size for going toe to toe with a bee-infesting Varroa mite.

But when I figured out how big they'd be compared to the flower in this comic, I realised you wouldn't be able to see enough of the flower to be able to tell that they're standing on a flower. Each panel would just be full of the yellow bit in the middle of the flower.* So I decided not to take Terry's numbers too literally.

** The yellow bit is actually a mass of tiny flowers making up the compound flower of this Rhodanthe chlorocephala, or pink paper-daisy.
