Comic #4261

1 Martian 1: What are you two doing?
2 Martian 2: Looking for the source of a distracting sound, before we probe our Earthling experimental subject.
3 Martian 1: Do you know what “diversionary” means?
3 Martian 2: Having two different versions?
4 Martian 1: I wish I had two different versions of you... Then I could throw away the stupid one.
4 Martian 2: What if we’re both stupid?

Lexicographical note: "Diversionary" doesn't really mean "having two different versions". That is the joke.

The English word version comes from the Middle French version, from Medieval Latin versio (the act of turning or changing), from Classical Latin vertere (to turn, to convert, or to be changed).

Since the word version comes from a Latin root, it takes the Latin prefix indicating duality, namely bi-, rather than the Greek di-.

So the correct word for "having two different versions" is of course biversionary.
