Comic #2337

1 Young Jane Goodall: Well, good luck with the rest of your life, Steve. I'm off on my next research project.
2 Steve: Where will you be going?
3 Young Jane Goodall: In search of the yeti.
4 Steve: Crikey! "In Search Of"! That'd be a ripper name for a TV show! I wonder if I can get Leonard Nimoy to host it!

When I was a kid, one of the highlights of television was the show In Search of..., which was indeed hosted by Leonard Nimoy. This was the show that began my long-time fascination with mysterious phenomena, the unexplained, and the allegedly paranormal. Although I'm actively sceptical of extraordinary claims, I still find the subject matter fascinating.

2022-07-31 Rerun commentary: There was a 2002 revival of In Search of..., hosted by Mitch Pileggi (from The X-Files), and a 2018 revival hosted by Zachary Quinto, who, like Leonard Nimoy, played Spock in a version of Star Trek.

These aren't the only links between Star Trek and paranormal and mysterious phenomena. William Shatner, the original Captain Kirk, hosts another similar show: The UnXplained.

I haven't watched any of these recent shows. Maybe I should.
