Death Waits For No Man was apparently a working title during production for the film that eventually became The World is Not Enough.

This is a slight variation on the more common saying "Time waits for no man."

2014-11-07 Rerun commentary: "Time waits for no man" is itself a modification of a more common saying, "Time and tide wait for no man".

In modern minds, the "tide" part conjures an image of the story of King Canute, who demonstrated the limits of the powers of an Earthly king compared to the powers of God by showing his inability to command the tides not to rise. But originally the word "tide" had a broader context, referring to any regular period of time, such as a season or year. This meaning can still be seen in words such as "morntide", "eventide", Whitsuntide", "Yuletide", and so on.
