2011-12-28 Rerun commentary: In 2003 when this comic was made, the situation in world politics looked pretty grim. Thankfully we got through it.
Now it's world economics that is looking grim. It seems we went from bad to worse. It's no fun basing a roleplaying campaign on economics.
That's a special effect in panel 3. With the webcam I was using at the time, the screen had to contain an image of whatever it was I was photographing (as seen in panels 1 and 2). To show something different there I did a screencap of the CNN web site and and pasted it into the photo.
