Comic #4179

1 Mercutio: We’re looking for two men to do some acting.
2 Bar patron 2: What, like in the theatre?
2 Mercutio: Yes, only not in a theatre.
3 Bar patron 1: What? Why would anyone act if they’re not in a theatre?
4 Bar patron 2: Oh no, hither cometh mine wife! Act like I’ve only just arrived and haven’t been here drinking all day!

For most of human history there was no real reason to ever act unless in front of a live audience.

I guess that might be why recording TV shows in front of a live audience is such a big thing still.
