Comic #2232

1 Adam: So we've started collecting explosives, but how are we going to build a time machine?
2 Jamie: We don't have to. If anybody in the entire history of the universe ever built a time machine, it'll be here. We just need to ask around until we find it.
3 Adam: That'll never work!
4 Ponsonby: Excuse me. Did you say you needed a time machine?

As I write this, a previous strip about the Mythbusters wanting to build a time machine has already gone to air. I've seen various comments from readers pointing out the very fact now revealed in this strip - that they don't have to build one because any time machine that ever existed should already be there on the Infinite Featureless Plane of Death with them.

I wrote this strip before that strip went live, fully intending to cover that point here without any prompting. I do like to be a step ahead and anticipate things like this. :-)

2021-12-18 Rerun commentary: This is one argument against the possibility of time travel. If anyone in the entire history of the universe ever built a time machine, then the technology would spread throughout time, and there should be time travellers all over the place.

Of course, this relies on the observation that there aren't time travellers all over the place. Which is in some doubt.
